Community Roundtable Discussion

Opening Remarks of Historical Context by Brad Ott

Brad Ott in May 1983 was 21-years-old and Chair of the First Unitarian Church Social Concerns Committee. Namesakes Dr. John “Jack” Gillespie in May 1983 was President of the First Unitarian Church and with spouse Millie Gillespie conceived The Community Breakfast as an organizing venue for progressive social justice solidarity. Katherine “Kit” Senter (along with Brad Ott) Co-Chaired the Gillespie Memorial Community Breakfast (1990-2011) and launched its current forum with keynote speaker format from her work with the League of Women Voters.
