About our speaker-
Pentzer is the Director of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of New Orleans. Scott studied in Costa Rica as a college student, volunteered for a year in Peru, and then earned his Ph.D. in Latin American Studies at Tulane, after a year as a Fulbright-Garcia Robles grantee in Mexico City.

Prior to arriving at UNO in 2019, he worked for several years as an on-site program director in Costa Rica, and as the Executive Director of the Center for Global Education at Tulane. Scott is on the board of directors of Cristosal, a human rights organization working in the Northern Triangle in Central America—El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.
